Thirteen startups pitched their ideas to a jury of experts, at the Mobile Premier Awards. Every Mobile Monday chapter had selected a winning startup, which made for an interesting collection of accents and appearances. And pitching styles. Russell Buckley (Admob VP Global Alliances) gave a list of tips for startups. I have some of my own.

#eComm 2009, WTF?

It was a confusing morning yesterday at eComm, the three day conference on Emerging Communications, held at the ever popular Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. (Are there any other tech locaties left in the Netherlands?)

One telecom guy after the other took the stage, talked for fifteen minutes and left again after answering one ore more questions from a well-informed audience. I was mainly baffled. There’s Internet, mobile Internet, mobile telecom and telecom. And the difference in culture and attitude between Internet companies and Telecom companies is huge. Telco’s are not happy. They are not hip. They are Large Companies with Major Problems. Perhaps everything after lunch was better, but I had to leave to get some work done. But here are some of the things I heard.
